The following seminars are planed in 2000 in Moscow:

May, 17-20 2000 - The International Seminar in the Therapeutic Riding, for medicines and instructors in the TR, Physical culture Treatment and Adaptive physical culture. The Seminar will be presented by Mrs. Barbara Heine PT Vice President of AHA (American Hippotherapy Associa-tion);

September, 5-8 2000 - The International Seminar in the TR presented by Mrs. Anita Shkedi (Israel).

This autumn was surprisingly warm but not only because of the whether - the hot days came at the CEC the Living Thread in early August and went on till October, 22. Almost within two months the Living Thread held four training seminars in cooperation with the Moscow Riding Club for the Disabled, the Russian Therapeutic Riding Society, Riding for the Disabled Association (GB) and Deutsches Kuratorium fur Therapeutisches Reiten e.V.

In early September our colleagues from England, an international instructor of The Riding for Disabled Association (RDA), the Great Britain and a trainer of the English National team in vaulting, Mrs. Susan Nevill-Parker held two seminars in application of vaulting in treatment and pedagogical purposes. One of the seminars was held in the Saint-Petersburg. The theme of it - "The Vaulting in the TR system, and the possibility and perspectives of its application in the rehabilitation of the disabled " attracted 40 listeners from 12 re-gions of Russia and Belorussia received this training course and ob-tained the respective RDA certificates.

These seminars were held due to the support of the Central Moscow Hippodrome and financed by the Program of The Russian-British partnership in non-commercial sector.

In October an Ex-president of the International Federation of the Therapeutic Riding for the disabled, Mr. Karl Kluver (Germany), conducted 2 training seminars in Moscow: "The Application of The Therapeutic Riding in the work with children and adults with disabilities of psychiatrists and psychologists" and "The Therapeutic Riding in the System of the rehabilitation of the disabled. These seminar attracted people from 8 cities of Russia as well as from Poland, Lithuania and Belorussia.

There was also created and registered The Moscow Riding Club for the Disabled (MRCD). The president of the club, Loza Nikolai suggested everyone interested in the Equestrian sport among the disabled contact him: 123317 Moscow Strelbishenskii per. 5-253, tel.: 295-92-40, tel./fax: 945-69-01

The Children Ecological Centre The Living Thread and The Moscow Riding Club for the Disabled were also involved in the exhibition and were granted with diplomas.

We would like to thank everybody, people, organisation and companies, all those who help and support in our hard times the courses of the Therapeutic Riding and Equestrian sport for the disabled. They are: the President of the Russian Equestrian Federation E. N. Baturina, the Chairman of the Commission for "The Stimulating of the Socio-economic Activity of The Disabled" of The Business Committee at the Mayor and the City Council V. V. Yevdokimov, the Deputy of the State Duma M.Z. Yuriev, the insurance company ROSNO, the Central Moscow Hippodrome, The "Posch" fund, the Sponsors for Sport Association of the city of Moscow, the "Royal" casino, the "Nestle" company, the "Lego Treading M/S" company, The "Chistia Voda" company, the Ust-Ilimsk's Timber Factory, the "Open Society Institute" - the Soros Fund (which supported the project of professional education of the disabled in the horse keeping, as well as the instructor's training in the TR). We are also grateful to "Compaq", "Hewlett Packard" and "Microsoft" companies, they gave us a computer, a scanner and a printer together with the software. And of course we cannot make no mention of the "Algorithm group" for the internet site you are reading at the moment. We thank the Programme of the Russian-British Partnership in the non-commercial sector ("Know-How" and "CAF" funds) for the financial support of the project of the specialists training in the TR and Equestrian Sport among the disabled, for all training seminars be-ginning from August 1998, and moreover these Funds helped us in publishing of the TR literature and videos.


We decided to bring to your notice the translated and published editions of the literature on the TR and the Equestrian sport for the disabled which can be useful in your work. We also inform you of our past and on-coming seminars.

You can apply for information to the Russian Therapeutic Riding Society to get the following editions:

  • "Aspects and Answers" (translated from English) - one of the best guide in the TR;
  • "Hippotherapy" - a famous book by Ingrid Strauss, has been issued in six languages;
  • "Meet the Hippotherapy" a small but very useful guide of an English "Diamond Centre", we've already published some extracts from it in our magazine;
  • "Developmental Riding Therapy", by Jan Spink, most widely used manual book in USA;
  • "The Rehabilitative Possibility of The Therapeutic Riding" - a guide book based on the materials and lectures of a French University "Leonardo da Vinci", the only educational institution having a faculty of "The Readaptation via Therapeutic Riding";
  • a pocket of the rules of the International Parolympic Equestrian Sport Committee and the Rules of Special Olympics in the Equestrian Sport (for holding the competition among the disabled); and some translated video-films of the Riding for the Disabled Association (the Great Britain) ),
  • and the Russian films, "A Little Red Horse" and "The Grandfather's shed" made due to the support of "Know-How" fund and "Open Society Institute" Soros fund.
Starting from the next year our rubric in the magazine "Horse-breeding and Question Sport" is to be enlarged. We encourage everybody to write for it about interesting events in your region:
  • who and how conducts the courses ( What are the conditions you conduct them? Do you have a manege, how many and what kind of horses do you use for the TR? Who among your colleagues received a special training and who needs it? What organisations did you manage to set up a co-operation with?).
  • about competitions, new literature, about everything that can be interesting to our readers from you point of you.
